He was born on August 5, 2001, in Atlanta, Georgia. Edwards attended Holy Spirit Preparatory School in Atlanta, where he played high school basketball.


During his high school career, Edwards was one of the top-ranked players in the country. He was named the Georgia Gatorade Player of the Year twice and was also named the McDonald’s All-American Game MVP in 2020. Edwards was considered a five-star recruit and was heavily recruited by many top college basketball programs in the United States.
